GOOD MORNING, GOOD DAY OR GOOD EVENING MY PEOPLE BEAUTIFUL!
I hope you are over the American election results and this post finds you at your best! Or at least, on your way to your best ?
Okay so, do you know people who call themselves “perfectionist”, but don’t do sh*t?
Example, people that say things along the lines of:
- I will pay off my debt in one shot, as soon as I hit the lottery
- I will start my report the night before it is due because I work better under pressure
- I will start saving when I start making more money
- It’s not you, it’s me; I will get married when I get my life together
To be honest, I used to form baddest perfectionist ever livette until;
I was venting to my friend about how I want to just live more. I gave her a list of things I want to do more of. She listened patiently and asked me why I didn’t do those things to begin with. Then I explained it was because I was always waiting for all the stars to align (someone to do things with, perfect timing etc). Then she told me something I will never forget. She said
you can’t be looking for (or trying to create) perfection in an imperfect world.
She then went further to state that waiting for perfection leads to procrastination which leads to more things to do which leads to anxiety. She then ended the conversation by telling me it is better to get it done, than to get it done perfectly.
If you are like me, waiting for the stars to align before you do something, please stop.
Don’t stay paralyzed while waiting for perfection. To quote my friend greatness is little things done well.
Start today to work on something and trust that it will be worthwhile eventually ?
As always, thank you for reading!!!
Until next Tuesday (unless there’s another election hahaha) love always,
