100!

Happy August 2017 My Darlings!
How have you all been? I trust you’ve been making the most out of life.?

Okay so, when it dawned on me that the next post I put out would be my 100th blog post, it boggled my mind!

I wanted to make it count so I didn’t put out just anything. After asking friends and family for advice and coming up with nothing that stuck, I prayed to God to give me a story worthwhile…. My God is real because Mehn did He come through for His baby girl!

Early 2014, one of the managers at my last job then called me a glorified secretary. According to her “even with your Masters, the only thing you’re good at is making stupid spreadsheets for rentals and chasing people for cyber keys.” I called my mom that day and wept. My mother told me to continue doing what I’m doing. “No knowledge is a waste,” she said. Then she said I will move nations and the spreadsheets I’m making will help me get there. A few months after that, I got a job and one of my first tasks was to create spreadsheets to track funds.

While the intricacies of my working life between then and now, make for an interesting story, allow me to digress.

Fast forward to Summer 2017, I was told that I’d been recommended for a promotion. It wasn’t approved by HR but it was only a matter of time so I was on cloud 9. A few weeks into this news, I was notified that there were a limited number of lines for promotion and unfortunately, I did not make the cut. I was defeated.

Hurt, I told my mom and my siblings and siblings. They told me to cheer up and continue praying and praising God for my promotion. I love to tell you I did just that, but I’d be lying. While I didn’t stop praying or participating in the Hallelujah Challenge, but I rolled my eyes and sucked my teeth every chance I got. Sometimes I cried, sometimes I just said the words but my heart was not into it. Eventually, I apologize to God for not being the best sport. I continued to go to work, smile, conduct business as usual. Over time the defeat I felt began to dwindle. It still stung, but it was what it was.

So you can’t imagine my shock when my boss told me that I’d been officially promoted to Assistant Vice President using the same “stupid spreadsheets” to track billions of dollars in grant funds.

As always, I share this to state:

1. It’s not what you are called, but what you answer to;

2. Small things are responsible for great changes. No knowledge is a waste. Keep doing the small stuff and doing it well. God rewards diligence;

3. MOMMY YOUR BABY GIRL IS MAKING IT IN AMERICA!!!!!??????

HAPPY 100th WAWA-NEW YORKER BLOG POST EVERYBODY!!! Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you so much sticking with me through and through.
