Marriage is Not Nike

Happy Tuesday Beautiful People!! I hope so far, so great! Okay so, last week someone sent me a link to Regina King's article in Vibe Magazine. In the article (abi na open letter?) she advised black women to date out of their race. I had read it already but when I did, I took it for what is was - a suggestion and kept it moving. However after the numerous conversations I had with multiple people about it, I knew I wanted to write about it. The question was how? I started off from a defensive angle – Aunty Regina, who asked you??? Do you think it is easy to date … [Read more...]

Happy Friday loves! Okay so, last night I thought life as I've come to love it had changed forever. I legit thought (for a good 3 minutes or so) that my soul mate (currently on vacay in Paris) died. Like died died. Like was dead AND deceased died. To understand how devastating those 3 minutes were, allow me to tell you a little something something about said soul mate. My soul mate is the biggest pain in my behind. In real life, I do not like her. She is every kind of crazy there is; she's sends me the most inappropriate messages at the worst times, kills moments … [Read more...]

Where’d the time Go?

Hey people! I hope all is well. Okay, so if you know me, you know I'm OBSESSED with my niece and nephew. I really do love all children, but my niece and nephew are mine, so I can get away with the little things I do for love - like throwing pillows at them - without them thinking I'm crazy! At 6 and a half and 5, they have changed my life in so many ways. Everything I learned about babies; from diaper changes and giving baths, to making the perfect chocolate milk (there's a science to it), learning to share my food, awesome kid shows like Princess Sophia and … [Read more...]

Happy Tuesday Everybody! I hope you had an amazing weekend and are having a great week thus far! Okay so, I was playing catch-up on my favorite author's blog when I came across the following story: "Sometimes we get used to what we see in the movies and end up forgetting the true story," a friend said to me once we were looking at the port of Miami, "Do you remember the Ten Commandments?" Of course I remembered, Moses, played by Charlton Heston, at one point, he raises his wand and with that action the waters were divided and the Jewish people walked through … [Read more...]
